Webinar with CERN physicists

PAS organized a webinar program with the physicists from CERN on 19 November 2016. Dr. Ajeeta Khatiwada, a research associate at Purdue University and working in CMS experiment at CERN, delivered talks on the title ‘Probing tiny particles with the world’s largest accelerator’  followed by the question/ answer session with the participants. She described Standard Model of particle physics and explained how these tiny particles are studied with the help of different detectors installed at CERN, European Organization for Nuclear Research. Dr. Suyog Shrestha, a postdoc at Ohio State University and researcher at ATLAS experiment at CERN, had given talks on ‘What Good is Physics Degree?’ He discussed the opportunities with the physics degree in numerous fields. 45 participants from different high schools and universities attended the webinar in SOS Hermann Gmeiner School, Rambazar, Pokhara. United Nations/ Austria Symposium on “Access to Space: Holistic Capacity-Building for the 21st Century”

Nepal successfully participated in United Nations/ Austria Symposium on "Access to Space: Holistic Capacity-Building for the 21st Century" Graz, Austria, 3 - 7 September 2017 Organized by The United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs, co-organized & co-sponsored by the Government of Austria European Space Agency (ESA), Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR), Austrospace, Joanneum Research, NPOC Space Law, Graz University of Technology, City of Graz, State of Styria, the Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology. More than 40 participants, from 30 countries had attended the Symposium highlighted on the framework of the topic on Space Science technology and the possible role of United Nations. Sabin Gautam from Pokhara Astronomical Society (PAS) presented his paper on space science capacity buildings activities focus on youth and women in Nepal . The Symposium primarily focus on how space-based technology can be utilized for the holistic capacity building of our society.
